How Whale Finance came to be
The places I’d worked in before I set up Whale Finance were incredibly toxic.
Every day I’d come home angry and frustrated about my day and after just having a baby this was not the ideal place to be in. I’d even have to ‘detox’ before hanging out with family – just me alone in a room to calm my nerves.
It wasn’t what I had in mind for my career at all and I even thought about leaving the industry altogether!
While trying to figure out the next steps in my career, some friends asked me for advice on how to handle their mortgages better. Hearing their problems I realised I had the solutions they needed.
This helped rekindle my love for the industry.
I realised that the wonderful work I could do didn’t have to be production line-like work.
I could just connect with people and make a difference in their lives. I didn’t have to switch careers to help people realise their full potential, I simply needed to create a healthier work environment.
So, over the last ten years, I’ve gotten more in touch with what people want and how I and my team can give it to them.
